Go Baby

Thursday, February 28,2013. Today is the last day of February and I will show you a beautiful little baby quilt. This quilt was made by Sue showing colorful modes of transportation. We have custom quilted this quilt with a soft petite cloud background and quilted around all the doors and windows of each vehicle as well as around each vehicle. The outside border has the pattern Go Car on it which is a series of cars with a go arrow at the corners, this was done in variegated thread. The backing on this sweet little quilt is a soft, cozy Minky fabric in bright polka dots. This baby is going to love it.

This shows Sue's quilt being loaded on the big quilt machine. The backing has been attached to the machine leaders and zippered on to the rollers.
The batting has now been basted on to the backing.
This shows the top being basted on to the batting and backing ready for quilting.

 Stiching the sides.
Ready for custom quilting.

It is hard to see the quilting here but the background is done in Cloud Nine Petite all around.

Hope you have enjoyed this delightful, little baby quilt.

February is going.

It's Monday already and its starting to feel like spring. Yahoo! These beautiful photos were taken by my husband just the other day. You can see the old millstream beside our home is starting to flow once again. The big Austrian Pines in front of the house are still sporting the last snowstorm but not for long. The air is changing day by day just like our quilt patterns and projects we do . These are our entries for today for you to enjoy.

Sue's out of the box

This is Sue's quilt, showing bright, bold prints by Kaffe Fassett. Sue was very fortunate to be able to take a class from Kaffe Fassett and says it was totally out of the box for her. She really enjoyed this class, to work with such wonderful fabrics that were ultra modern and displayed unusual colorways. This quilt is 52x60 inches and quilted with a lovely variegated thread. The pattern used in the quilting is called Van Gogh.

This is the backing that Sue has chosen for her quilt. It works perfectly with the many colors, don't you think? Nice job Sue.

Aurora Borealis1(Northern LIghts)

Another winter storm last night, three in a row. It certainly is the time for quilting. I have decided to use my brightest colors and put some brights on the winter days. This picture shows the base for my project. It is a gradation fabric called Glacier Park. This fabric is designed by Caryl Bryer Fallert and is sold through Bernatex Fabrics. The five strips that I have framed are quilted in a background pattern with cobblestones. It acts as a good filler. I am using a variegated thread to add more color. The diamonds which are attached on the finished wallhanging, I hand dyed at a workshop this winter. I think they turned out lovely and are a perfect match to go with my background pieces.

I have appliqued my diamonds on to the quilted background. This is not the best picture but you will see what I mean.

Aurora Borealis 4

The next few pictures will show the quilting we have done in the diamonds. Every diamond is done in a different pattern. Hope you have enjoyed looking at my recent project and maybe you will try making something bright and colorful for your winter day.  See you next time.

Hello Monday, what a wild weekend again. Snow!Snow!Snow! I am doing this blog tonite and it will be a short one this time. The storm is continuing and tomorrow's weather doesn't sound much better. I will be able to get some binding done tomorrow so you will be able to see a lot more for the next one.                                                     The quilt featured today is done by Marg, and is called Garden Stars. The quilting pattern that we put on it is called Flowers by Lynda. This quilt looks lovely with small meandering daisies all over.

Happy Valentine's Day

It's Valentine's Day today and I thought I might show you a couple of valentines from 1920 -1930. The wording has surely changed over the years but the sentiments remain the same.

Red Quilt in progress

I am working on many projects at a time. This is my red, black and grey quilt that I take to sew on whenever I'm sewing with my friends. I will show you this quilt again as it progresses. It will be a Queen size quilt when finished. I have half the blocks done so far, so have a way to go. Please root for me to get this one finished, so it won't become a UFO. Gwenda Quilts

Flo's Quilt

Keeping with the red for Valentine's day is Flo's quilt. She made this little quilt at our quilt retreat and plans to donate it to charity. We used red thread on this quilt with a Van Gogh pattern . It is indeed a pretty little quilt.
